Everything told Kevin to give up, there was no lack of signs. What Kevin learned not only helped him go beyond those obstacles, but it also taught him how to help others do the same.
After a few years and an entire education devoted to teaching, Kevin left it all behind. He learned a lot from being a high school math teacher, and he is grateful for that, but it takes a very special person to be a teacher, and it simply was not Kevin. Leaving it behind was one of the scariest things he ever did because Kevin did not have a backup plan.
It was not long after though that opportunity knocked, and Kevin found himself with the chance to do something he had always wanted to do run a business. Unfortunately, it did not happen the way Kevin expected. About a month after he left teaching, a chance to run a cleaning company came to him. The owner was someone Kevin thought he could trust, and she promised him a partnership after they reached a certain milestone. Kevin was excited by the prospect and jumped at the chance, leaving behind his after-hours job as a poker dealer at the casino.
Kevin realized a hard lesson in those first few months that things do not always work out how you hope. As he worked harder and harder doing everything from marketing, arranging schedules, training staff, and anything else Kevin could do to keep the business running, he found himself further and further away from being made partner. When Kevin talked to the business owner about it, she confirmed that she did not intend to hold to that promise. Disappointed and terrified, Kevin quit.
In an act of blind faith, Kevin started his own cleaning business. He had learned so much about entrepreneurship in those first few months and realized he was good at it. But it was hard to get started…even more so when that owner publicly disapproved of his choices. During that first year, there were a lot of hardships. Everywhere Kevin turned, it felt like he was hitting a wall.
But Kevin knew he could not give up. This was something he was passionate about, and running a business was a dream Kevin had had for as long as he could remember. He could not give it up just because it was harder than he had thought. So, Kevin pushed through and found ways around the obstacles. Something he always loved to do was find creative solutions to common problems. Being solution-oriented is something he excelled at with the business, and it paid off after years of hard work.
Kevin’s cleaning company became a success, and he employed twenty-five people to cover their needs. Kevin thought that he had finally made it, but he soon realized that he was in over his head. Even though the business was successful, and they had built a great reputation in the community, it was all-consuming. Every hour he had was spent towards keeping all those moving parts working. As Kevin looked at the years ahead, he saw no end of the hectic workdays and hustle to keep things moving.
With a heavy heart, Kevin started looking for a buyer for the company and focused on his next step. Kevin knew he wanted to help people, serve a purpose, and above all educate. That is when he realized something my friends had suggested years before that fit the bill: real estate!
Kevin became a licensed REALTOR® in 2013 and never looked back. It is everything he had been looking for and he knows it is what he was meant to do. As a Masters level educator and as a cleaning company owner, Kevin has always loved teaching and helping others. Now he gets to help folks on an even deeper level buying and selling the properties of their dreams.
What Kevin realized all those years ago when everything was pointing at giving up on his business was that success is just one step beyond the obstacle in sight. That is why he helps his clients everyday push beyond the obstacles in their paths to achieve their wildest dreams.
For most people, buying or selling real estate is a daunting process with the paperwork, financial components, and many details…it is a lot to handle. Making the process easy, seamless, and user friendly for his clients with his detail-oriented approach is something Kevin cherishes. His business acumen and Midwest work ethic both allow him to take care of the little things and deal with unexpected complications whenever they pop up. Helping others is something he has spent his life doing in a variety of ways, and Kevin loves not only helping his clients transact but also showing them how to use real estate as a tool for future wealth and security. Kevin’s clients and relationships mean the world to him. When he starts working with you, he will not stop just after that first transaction. Kevin is your fiduciary invested in your long-term financial success and promise to be there as your trusted resource for years to come.
