He first developed a passion for real estate when he moved from Kentucky to the Maryland suburbs of DC in high school and was shocked by the difference good housing made to quality of life. He wanted to understand every aspect of the business, so he studied finance, business, and real estate development at the University of Virginia and later law at Howard University School of Law.

He began his career in real estate development in the DC area during the boom years, when he managed the development of thousands of new homes across multiple residential developments, including two communities that won awards from the local homebuilding association for being the best developments in their respective price ranges. Since then, he has stayed involved in real estate development in various ways, while also making a name for himself as a civil rights advocate and social media guru.

When Kevin is not working, he is watching basketball — he is a diehard fan of the Warriors and the University of Kentucky — or reading up on developments in building or technology, you can often find him walking around Lake Merritt. While he has lived in Kentucky, the DC area, rural Virginia, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, Oakland is where he feels most at home. he never wants to move again. He really loves the East Bay!
