I first became aware of real estate at the age of 5 when my family moved to San Juan Capistrano. My parents purchased a parcel of land in 1972 to build our home in the then very small town. My Mom designed the house and my Dad acted as the General Contractor. Some of my earliest memories are of being on the construction site and watching our home take shape.
After the completion of our personal residence, I watched my parents take on the project of building another house to sell. The year was 1980 and the market was beginning to turn down. Ultimately, the project was completed and the property was sold, but not without some sleepless nights for my parents. At 13, I became aware that real estate had cycles and could be stressful.
I had been bitten by the real estate bug and by the age of 21, I would purchase my first property, a condo in Laguna Niguel. The year was 1990 and after years of upward movement, once again, the market was on the verge of a correction. It was time for some sleepless nights of my own. In the end, the storm was weathered. It took some time, but the market eventually turned around and time cures all ills.
In 1992 while handling my Mom's estate, after her passing, I needed to get an appraisal of her home. While reviewing the report, I became interested in the appraisal process. My 30+ years of professional experience in real estate began as a residential appraiser. During that time, I rose to the level of State Certified and appraised many thousands of properties of all different sizes, designs, and market segments in every corner of this county and analyzed the local market daily. This experience and knowledge led to the attainment of my Broker's license and the start of my current career as a Broker. I have continued to upgrade my skills, having added experience working with couples going through divorce, as well as being a Certified Trust and Probate Specialist.
In 2007, a neighbor of mine got a job transfer to the East Coast and asked me to manage his house for him. At this point, I wasn’t managing property, but just focusing on real estate sales. “Maybe it will lead to something”, he said. He was right! I soon realized that I enjoy property management, as well. It draws on many of my personal strengths, which is very satisfying. Since 2007, we have many more properties of all types under management, including my neighbors’ house.
My point in all of this is that I have a love of real estate and have been studying it in one way or another for most of my life. I enjoy helping people through a major transition in their lives and assisting them in moving on to their next chapter. I feel that my experience as an appraiser, knowledge of the market, and attention to detail uniquely qualify me to navigate market conditions to the benefit of my clients. I have been through the cycles and have the experience, expertise and appreciation for the process to be by your side to the successful sale or purchase of your home, or management of your property.
