She was born and raised in mid-Michigan. Growing up, she spent all her summer
vacations in the Higgins and Houghton Lake area. After completing high school,
she graduated from Ferris State University with an associate degree in dental
hygiene.
Laura worked as a dental hygienist for 36 years, providing patients with friendly
and caring dental treatment while being attentive to their needs and personal
circumstances. She fostered lifelong relationships with many of her patients and
their families.
In the mid-1980s, she purchased a cottage overlooking Higgins Lake. She and her
husband remodeled it, and in 2013, made it their permanent, year-round residence.
Since then, she has gained an intimate knowledge of the entire region and became
a part of the community’s culture. She loves to be outdoors, hiking, biking,
walking, boating, kayaking, on the motorcycle or playing pickleball.
