Furthermore, he has built an extensive portfolio by being an aggressive real estate investor. Martin has purchased and renovated many distressed homes and has developed both residential and commercial new construction in the Lumberton area.

He has served his community in several roles including the Board of Directors with the Lumberton Area Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Kiwanis of Robeson. Martin has also served as part of the pilot program to help Lumberton gain recognition as the first Certified Retirement Community in North Carolina and as President of the Lumberton Board of Realtors.
