About Marty
Although she was born on Maui and later spent years studying in Paris and in Marin County, California, Martha Ellman has chosen to make her home in Brooklyn Heights with her family for the past 40 years. Perhaps one day she will return to her Hawaiian roots but for now, if she is not on Maui, there is nowhere she would rather live and work than in New York City.
A family life in New York City? Yes, she believes her children benefited from the rich culture and diversity of life in the City while at the same time they received an excellent education in Brooklyn schools. Like their suburban counterparts they played soccer, basketball, and squash while also taking ballet, judo and music lessons. It was as easy for them to spend a Saturday at the Natural History Museum in Manhattan as at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Going to an occasional Broadway show seems as natural to them as going to a movie. Martha considers them fortunate to have grown up in such an enriched environment.
Professionally, Martha has sold houses and apartments in brownstone Brooklyn for over 20 years, often to repeat customers or referrals. One of the most satisfying aspects of her work as a Broker is introducing newcomers to all that Brooklyn has to offer, whether they are moving from Manhattan or Los Angeles or Paris. Her Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning gives her a unique perspective on the City's real estate market. Within Douglas Elliman, Martha has volunteered to mentor new brokers based in the flagship office on Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights.
While at Douglas Elliman, she's been acknowledged for being a top Sales Broker in Brooklyn, she's received the President's Circle award multiple times for being in the top 8% of Individual Sales Professionals and she's received the company's Gold Award for sales performance. Martha has been a consistently high producer in her years as a Broker, with a history of "topping the market" in prices. Her clients and customers find her to be very discreet and responsive in her efforts to satisfy their real estate needs.
She would be happy to learn how she can do the same for you.
