Marty is wonderful! She expertly helped us prepare our home for sale, recommending all of the work and the contractors to do it that she knew would make our house competitive in the current market. She explained everything throughout the process, made us feel comfortable at each step, and got us a price we are very happy with. Marty also recommended a great realtor where we wanted to move - who helped us find a wonderful home. Marty helped us buy our house 13 years ago and has been a wonderful Arlington neighbor. We wouldn't have thought to sell with anyone else. I highly recommend her!

Our first experience with Marty Merriam was almost 25 years ago; she represented the seller of the first house we purchased. We were incredibly impressed by her professionalism, knowledge of the home buying process, and familiarity with all things Arlington. We continue to appreciate the assistance she’s offered ever since—everything from every imaginable home service recommendation to the best local restaurants and shops.

We have referred several family members & friends to Marty when they were considering a move to the area, and especially in/around Arlington. She’s also represented numerous listings in our own neighborhood. Each experience increased our respect for her knowledge of and experience in real estate. She’s able to find buyers their desired house no matter how in-demand the listing, and without going beyond their parameters. She’s also able to get multiple offers—often above list-price—in most market conditions we’ve witnessed over the years.

Last year, she represented us in the buying process. She knew we were planning to do a complicated renovation project on our old house that was hitting several roadblocks. When she became aware of a house coming onto the market that fit our needs perfectly and in our beloved neighborhood, she suggested we take a look. She was right, we wanted it, and she made it happen.

It was the height of a hypercompetitive market: low inventory and an influx of out-of-state buyers coming from other expensive markets (several major corporations relocating headquarters to Arlington). Despite this environment, and within a week, she facilitated an accurate assessment of the property and worked with us to craft a competitive bid she knew would be attractive to the seller. This is what she does best. She then guided us through the negotiation process, and just another week later, we got the house!

She takes the time to talk with you and make sure you understand everything, answer any questions you have, and doesn't push you to move forward with anything you're not comfortable with. My wife and I owned a condo apartment in a 1960s building in Arlington. We used Marty to sell it. She has a wealth of market knowledge. In addition (and perhaps even more importantly to us since we do not live locally), she had excellent contractors who were able to upgrade the bathroom, sand and refinish the floors, and paint. Even better, she co-ordinated them so that the work gone done with minimum downtime so that she could bring it to market quickly. She guided us through the sale process and made us feel very comfortable. We recommend her highly.
