Matthew is a lifelong resident of Middle Georgia, with family roots stretching back to the early 1900s. He is the grandson of the former Macon Chief of Police, James Avera Jr., from whom he inherits a strong dedication, sense of service, and respect for the community. His passion for real estate ignited after purchasing his first house, leading him to discover a unique way to serve the public that many might not consider. Driven by a desire to help others experience the pride and joy of homeownership, Matthew sees his role as a way to fulfill part of the American Dream.
He began his education at Stratford Academy, attending until his sophomore year before completing his high school education at Mary Persons High School in Forsyth. During his time at Stratford, he was an active member of the Spirit of Stratford Marching Band and the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the rank of Life Scout. Matthew honed his customer service skills through various roles, including managing a farm supply store in Bolingbroke, serving as a lawn care technician in Houston County, and working as an associate for a nationwide building supply company in Macon. In these positions, he provided essential materials like lumber, windows, doors, and trim to contractors across the state.
In his leisure time, Matthew enjoys attending Macon Mayhem hockey games, as well as camping, hiking, and kayaking with friends and family.
