Matt's interest in real estate stretches back to college, where he took real estate classes as part of his major in Finance at the University of Notre Dame. He graduated with honors in 2009 and moved to Washington, DC, to work for the Obama White House and, later, the Small Business Administration.
He returned to Chicago in 2013 and purchased his first condo, a fixer-upper, in Lincoln Park. Working with a contractor to renovate the property convinced him that real estate was a true passion and perhaps a future career direction. For the next few years, he continued to work for a consulting firm while buying and selling condo properties as a “hobby”. This eventually led him to obtain his real estate broker license in 2018 and make a career change.
Through these experiences, Matt has become familiar with the nuances of buying and selling real estate for personal and investment purposes. He has first-hand knowledge of the joys and pains of property renovation, tax-deferred property exchanges, and short-term rental income properties. Since 2018 he has also owned and operated Southport Inn, a multi-unit condo vacation rental property in Lakeview that is a favorite of Cubs fans looking for a local place to stay and catch a game.
In his role as an agent, Matt enjoys sharing his knowledge of the ever-changing industry so that his clients can make the most informed decisions possible and genuinely love the place they call home.
Matt grew up in Homer Glen, Illinois, and attended Lockport Township High School. He lives in the Roscoe Village neighborhood of Chicago with his husband, Grant, and loves to travel.
