About Matthew

Growing up on a farm in central Kansas I was blessed with a father that introduced me to the outdoors, and a Grandpa who lived for farming, instilling a love for the land in me. My parents and grandparents were great examples, providing me with a strong work ethic. From a young age I have been obsessed with wildlife, the outdoors, and especially hunting and fishing.

My passion led to obtaining a degree in Biology with a wildlife emphasis from Fort Hays State University. Throughout my college years I evolved from primarily a wing shooter into bowhunting for big game. My fire for archery hunting continues to burn to this day, resulting in many days afield across Kansas and other states. I am also involved with the Kansas Bow hunters Association, the Pope and Young club, and am a contributor for Bowhunter magazine and Bowhunter TV.

Prior to becoming a Land Specialist, I spent 20 years working with Kansas farmers and ranchers as a Soil Conservationist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), assisting landowners to improve their land by implementing conservation practices through conservation programs. The highlight of my 20 year career is the relationships I have built with the landowners and stewards of the land.

My knowledge of farming and ranching practices in Kansas coupled with my formal education in wildlife biology and in-field experience as a passionate outdoorsman meld perfectly into my role as a land specialist for Whitetail Properties.
