About Melanie
Since I was born and raised in Maryland, I find that working in several counties is easy! These areas include Howard County, Montgomery, North Prince George's, East & South Baltimore County, and Anne Arundel County. Since I attended Prince George's Community College and graduated from the University of Maryland, I find that they prepared me well for being a Realtor. Continuing education is required in Maryland to maintain our license, so I try to attend the Maryland Association of Realtors conference so that I hear speakers and can network with Realtors from all over the state. This helps me understand what some of the other real estate companies are teaching, and I also learn new ways to market property. It also helps get my listing sold, because I get to know agents from other companies, and because of this rapport, they show my listed homes that are for sale. . Even though I have been licensed since 1984, I did not sell real estate full time until I closed a boutique, known as the Vogue Dress Shop, in 1993. Many of my clothing customers become my real estate clients. I actually became a Realtor because one of my clothing customers was opening a real estate company and invited me to try it. I did, and the rest is history! Rather than helping a first-time buyer find their first home or helping a senior sell their last home, each is a challenge that I enjoy. I really believe it is the people aspect that I enjoy the most (at least on most days). This is perhaps why I have elected not to list foreclosures for banks, which are just paper with no real human communication. For me, it is knowing that I am helping people move forward with their lives. Each case (family) is different, and each day is different from the previous! Being an investor in real estate before becoming an agent helped me realize the potential in appreciation and tax advantages of owning real property. This experience has helped me become a better agent. After thirty-plus years, it is still a fun and rewarding career, as each new client brings a new set of needs and perspectives.
