A transplanted Texan, Mel spent a decade in the corporate world as an executive in workforce support and solutions. Her assignments required leadership in customer service, sales, contract negotiation and management, for which she was recognized nationally. These assets carried over seamlessly into her profession as a realtor.

Her passion for education continued after earning degrees in psychology and business to attaining a rare designation in the Real Estate industry from the graduate realtors institute.
