Melissa grew up with real estate. Her mother has been a realtor for almost 40 years. Melissa learned a lot from watching and listening to her mother. Melissa was fascinated when there was a problem and would become mesmerized on how the deal would play out. It became her first reality show. Melissa always knew she would be a realtor too!
Melissa learned early about success from competitive swimming and coaching. The daily practice and determination on an individual level drove home a sense of responsibility. Teamwork helped build a sense of pride and provided a great resource base. She quickly learned at an early age how motivation is needed for success on the individual and the team level. After graduating from the University of Georgia, she worked for the Shepherd Center for over 5 years. Melissa worked with individuals and their families who had spinal cord and brain injuries. When she left the Shepherd Center to start her career in real estate, Melissa naturally integrated what she had learned as a swimmer, coach, and especially what she learned from working at the catastrophic hospital in Atlanta.
