As the owner of Howard Hanna Outer Banks Realty, Michael leads one of the region’s most accomplished real estate operations, specializing in residential, commercial, and investment properties throughout Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, and surrounding Outer Banks communities. He has closed more than $200 million in transactions and consistently ranks among the top 1% of agents nationally. His expertise includes zoning, development planning, coastal building regulations, and investment analysis—helping clients move forward with clarity and confidence.
Michael grew up in the mountains of Virginia, where an outdoor lifestyle shaped his work ethic and appreciation for community. He attended Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, where he played collegiate baseball and studied Liberal Arts. After college he worked in Northern Virginia as a district manager before pursuing his passion for remodeling homes and launching his own building business. He later relocated to Southwest Virginia to continue building and remodeling, where he met his wife, Stacy.
A lifelong visitor to the Outer Banks, Michael made the region his permanent home after years of family vacations. He transitioned into coastal construction with one of the area’s premier builders, gaining firsthand knowledge of Outer Banks building standards, coastal codes, weather challenges, and the demands of oceanfront living. These relationships across the building, rental, service, and design industries paved the way for his move into real estate, where his construction expertise uniquely benefits clients seeking well-built homes and smart investments.
An active investor himself, Michael owns and manages weekly, monthly, and commercial rental properties, providing deep insight into cash flow and long-term asset performance. Known for his collaborative approach, he assembles trusted teams of lenders, architects, engineers, builders, attorneys, and financial professionals to support clients at every stage.
Beyond business, Michael has served as Mayor Pro Tem and Town Commissioner for the Town of Nags Head, reflecting his commitment to responsible growth and community character. A former athlete, he brings a team-first mindset to every endeavor, building lasting relationships—not just transactions—while delivering integrity, transparency, and results.

Mike is an amazing real estate agent. He worked diligently to help us find the perfect home. Siers did it again! Four years ago, we bought our second Outer Banks house with Michael and Stacy as our agent. We had been very discouraged after our first property experience with another agent. But Michael and Stacy worked tirelessly with our tight schedule, organized 7 to 9 houses for us to see and helped us land the most amazing house.
Four years later now, we were ready to sell our rental property. Stacy took care of our sale, which included 6 owners. The result was amazing, and we sold our house very well within comparisons! Stacy has a knack for highlighting home and worked to find the right buyer.
It is beyond question that Stacy is extremely capable and hard-working--you know it the moment you meet her from the way she talks 500 words a minute! But she (and Michael) also have high integrity and are always available (even after a sale)--which I find to be a rare combination in a realtor. They know the market better than anyone on the Outer Banks. I could not recommend Stacy more highly to anyone who hopes to buy or sell a house on the Outer Banks.
