Following a Christmas vacation with her children on Amelia Island — and with a few extra days of vacation to spare — Micki Tanner, and her husband, John Baird, followed the tip of a friend and decided to visit Reynolds Lake Oconee for New Year’s Eve 1998. They were told they could play unlimited golf, eat fabulous meals and attend the Members-only New Year’s Eve party — all just for the price of “having to put up with a sales pitch at the end of the weekend.” With no intentions of buying property, they figured, at a minimum, it would be a fun weekend.
Two weeks later, Micki had bought a lot, and a year after that, she was a full-time resident.
A longtime vice president of a large paging company — and with a sales background — Micki found herself too restless for retirement. Shortly after moving, she went to work for Reynolds Lake Oconee Properties, initially as the Resale Manager, then a Sales Executive.
She’s since sold over $200 million in property within the Reynolds community. Outside of work, Micki is a lover of the arts, and a longtime and passionate supporter of the Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS) and the Eatonton and Lake Country theater troupes. She also attends four to five shows each year at The Atlanta Opera.
Micki is very active in the community through her membership in the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties and has faithfully delivered a Meals on Wheels route every third Monday of the month for the past 19 years. She also proudly serves as the lector at her church, Christ Our King and Savior. Most of all, Micki loves God, family, and her dog, Molly.
