Mona Banes is a Vice President at TTR Sotheby’s International Realty. She is a first generation Iranian American (fluent in Farsi) and native of Northern Virginia. Mona has overseen over $160 million worth of real estate transactions in the last five years, making her one of the top producing Realtors in the area. NOVA Real Producers has ranked Mona among the region’s top producing realtors year over year. She was a member of the 2020 Northern Virginia Association of Realtors (NVAR) Leadership Institute. Mona has been featured in Washingtonian Magazine’s “Best of Washington” and Arlington Magazine’s “Best of Arlington.” Mona combines her years of negotiation skills, local market knowledge, and analytical skills to approach every deal with the client’s best interests being her top priority.
Mona is a partner of The Doug and Mona Group. The group was founded in 2022, after Mona Banes and Doug Richards, decided to combine their skills and expertise, to provide an unrivaled and unyielding customer experience while achieving exceptional results.
Prior to entering real estate, Mona earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from George Mason University. Upon graduating, she spent five years at Accenture, an international consulting company, where she honed her negotiation skills. At Accenture, she was on a team responsible for assembling complex deals for the company - a skillset that has been extremely helpful in the real estate industry.
Mona is a strong believer in giving back to her community. In 2016, she was awarded one of the Town of Vienna’s Mayor Volunteer Recognition awards for her participation with the Vienna Children’s Unity Classes. The classes are a Sunday school program inspired by the Baha’i Ruhi Institute, with a focus on teaching children about virtues and how to incorporate them into their lives at an early age.
Mona currently resides in McLean with her husband, Adam, a practicing attorney, and their son, Rayan. When she is not working, Mona loves to cook and try new recipes from various cultures. One of her passions is entertaining clients, friends, and her big Iranian family in her home. Her specialty in the kitchen is a delicious Persian stew. She is an avid runner and appreciates the world of interior decorating, which comes in handy when advising clients on renovations and decorating.
