About Norman
Moving to Greenville, SC from Scotland as a child, Norm has seen Greenville transform itself from a textile community to a vibrant multi-cultural, diverse community that is being recognized and receiving accolades from so many magazines. Being in Greenville since 1958, he knows the Upstate, and that matters! Real estate is local, in pricing, marketing and lifestyle. Norm can help you price and market your home to the best potential buyers and/or help you find the lifestyle you are looking for in a neighborhood for you and/or your family.
Norm graduated Furman University after playing football, basketball and running track (and got his degree in Business Administration). He received his MBA from Clemson University. Upon graduating with his MBA, Norm started his career with BellSouth rising to the Marketing Manager over South Carolina. Highlights of his career with BellSouth was the introduction of 911 service in the Upstate. Who could imagine a world without 911? But that task (Greenville was the first major city in South Carolina to get 911) was on his shoulders. Norm also worked with Hartness International in sales.
He started in real estate with The Cliffs Resort Property and moved to C. Dan Joyner, REALTORS in late 2005. His wife of 35 years, Phyllis, soon joined him and they became a real estate team. And in August of 2015, their son, Jon MacDonald, joined The MacDonald Home Team and brought 9 years of Enterprise Car Rental Management experience. His addition is a true asset to the service they supply all their clients. His friendly nature and focus on customer service, will help them to continue to fully service their clients’ needs, from finding the right home and negotiating contracts to listing your home and getting the highest price.
For the past three years, they have been a member of the Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Chairman’s Gold award, which is awarded for being in the top 2% of agents worldwide. With his wife, they had 70 transactions in 2015 and produced $14 Million in Sales. In the Greenville Market, they rank near the top with over 2200 active agents.
Along the way he was a graduate of Leadership Greenville’s Class Xlll. He has been active in the Greenville Chamber, United Way, Furman Booster Club and served on The Eastside YMCA Board for a number of years. He and Phyllis have 4 adult children. They are graduates of Furman, Clemson, UGA and NC State. He is also proud to have four grandchildren (3 granddaughters and 1 grandson). He is active in Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church.
