I have purchased my first apartment not understanding anything about real estate, except that owning is better than renting. But that is where my knowledge ended at that time. Unfortunately, my agent was new to this profession and did not help me with my purchasing process. I needed to learn everything myself from start to finish, and that was painful, nerve wrecking, and a few sleepless nights. Because buying a home or coop/condo for the first time is a large purchase that most people dread going through.
