Omar Diaz

Omar Diaz is an accomplished professional with over 25 years of experience. His passion for helping people started at a young age and, since then, he has honed his craft through his formal education and practical experience.

He began his career as a Senior Corrections Officer in Northern State Prison before graduating from the Newark Police Academy. His ambition helped him rise through the ranks at an early age and has been in various assignments, which included being the unit commander in the Newark Police Criminal Intelligence Unit, Municipal Counter-Terrorism Coordinator (MCTC) as a liaison to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, and later being tapped to lead a multi-agency task force as unit head and liaison to the NJ State Police.

Omar was later promoted and proudly became the first Dominican-American to hold the rank of Captain in the city of Newark. He oversaw the business downtown district, Prudential Center Arena, NJ Performing Arts Center, and Newark Symphony Hall. While in this role, and in addition to running a police command, he worked closely and forged lasting relationships with the community, school leaders, religious leaders, and business owners.

Omar graduated from Rutgers University – Newark in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and a minor in Urban Education and obtained his teacher’s high school certification through the Urban Teacher Education Program (UTEP). In 2015, he earned his Executive Master of Public Administration degree from Rutgers, School of Public Affairs and Administration, with a 4.0 GPA, with a concentration in Non-Profit and Public Performance Management. This helped him obtain foundations in leadership and communication skills that brings him unique insight into how to market properties, protect the client, and negotiate the best deal for all of his transactions.

Omar is a former advisory board member at Good Shepard Academy, Nutley, NJ, member of the Superior Officers' Association, Fraternal Order of Police, the Essex County Hispanic Law Enforcement Society, and FBI LEEDA. He also holds memberships in the National Association of Realtors, North Jersey Realtors Association, and National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals.

When he is not working with clients, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and has a strong commitment to challenge himself to learn or discover new things. Omar is a father of three incredible children and they are the source of his greatest joy and inspiration.
