I originally wanted to become a real estate agent when my sister lost her home to foreclosure in 2009. We didn't find out, until years later, that she actually could've sold her home, herself, and would've walked away with over a quarter million dollars. That ordeal cost her a lot, because not only did she lose her home, but she also lost her equity, as well as her excellent credit rating. Her lack of education about real estate, and the sub-par level of representation from her realtor, is why she lost so much. Although, not a crime, I think that what happened to her was criminal. There are too many realtors that don't take the time to educate their clients the ins & outs of buying & selling real estate, and don't follow up with their clients after the sale. I personally think that's wrong.
