Born and raised in Mountain Park, I attended South Gwinnett High School and studied Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. After leaving school in 1978 I started as a truck driver for a construction company and within two years was General Manager of McAfee and Ponder Grading Company. Managing 10 employees, estimating jobs, supervising work sites, helping engineer building sites, repairing and moving construction equipment all over the southeast, and meeting some of the most successful General Contractors in the state of Georgia. I learned a tremendous amount about the construction and building industry.
Using my aviation background from college, engineering and mechanical background from construction, I went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration in 1982 as an Air Traffic Controller. As a charter member of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA), I performed many different jobs, involving tests, evaluations, and implementation of new technology, as well as political and labor-management related positions for NATCA. For over 30 years I was a journeyman controller in the busiest air traffic control facility in the world.
In 2005 I began a real estate investment business and studied the real estate market all over northeast Georgia. Having bought, sold, remodeled, built, demolished and rented homes, I wanted to use what I have learned to help other people through the maze of real estate transactions.
