Phillip Skaggs first realized his love for real estate after being driven through the Bellevue Arch in Richmond’s historic North Side with his wife Katie. He still remembers weaving through the charming streets filled with unique early 1900’s colonial revival and craftsman style houses and feeling the neighborhood’s pride of homeownership. The not-so-short short-cut that his first realtor took him on was enough to kick start his over-a-decade journey towards real estate.
A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Phillip’s dream to become a classical ballet dancer led him east to the Richmond Ballet where he danced for 16 years, during which time he performed in China, London, Chicago, Washington DC, and New York. While excited to push new boundaries, he continued to be impacted most profoundly by his experiences in Virginia.
He always knew that his body would only hold out for so long in such a demanding profession, so he continually found ways to be resourceful and self-sufficient. When the ballet was in off-season, he built and renovated houses, started an online ballet dancer guesting agency, managed a fireworks store, and made custom concrete countertops. This odd list of jobs continually crafted his knowledge base for home design and sales, and also created an amazing network of friends.
While being torn between the worlds of ballet, home renovation and parenting, phillip decided to hang up his dance shoes. After retiring from the ballet, he became the lead property manager with Richmond Loft Company. There he acquired his Real Estate license and oversaw multiple residential and commercial properties. He quickly became involved in every aspect of the business from development, advertising, leasing, maintenance, renovations and buying and selling properties.
Now as a Licensed Realtor with Maison Real Estate Boutique, he is excited to share with his clients his knowledge, dedication, and passion for real estate in Virginia. He brings a unique and personalized experience to the community, much like his favorite Northside neighborhood he, his wife, and his two boys call home.
