About Rhonda

Growing up, Rhonda dreamed of two things: to live in Washington, DC, and to become a Realtor. Although she was raised in Redlands, California, she was always drawn to our nation’s capital, a place steeped in such history and splendor. And as a self-described people person, the idea of working closely with clients to help them navigate a momentous life event like buying or selling a home was irresistible. So, after a career in Human Resources — where she learned the invaluable art of listening — and a stint as a small business owner, she decided that it was time to start living the life she had always envisioned for herself. And while her previous experiences prepared her well for the world of real estate, once she made the transition, she never looked back. Today, she is proud to say that she turned her vision into reality. Over the past 22 years, she has built a successful real estate business that is virtually 90% referral-based, a fact that she attributes to the enduring relationships she is formed here. When she first moved to the DC area, she did not know a single person; now, she has a community of clients that truly feels like a family, like home. She treasures her role as a trusted advisor who helps others find their place in DC just as she has found hers. Above all, she believes in creating personalized, seamless experiences for her clients that are tailored to their distinct needs and goals. Rhonda also believes that when it comes to real estate, honesty is always the best policy. Whether you are buying your very first home or downsizing, her mission is to arm you with the knowledge you need to make the decision that is right for you and to have some fun along the way. After all, who said real estate had to be boring? Rhonda has moved several times in her life — including her relocation from California — and as a Realtor, she is sold close to 1,000 homes to date. It is these personal and professional experiences that help her to relate to those she works with not just as clients, but as people. Real estate is, after all, a uniquely human profession, and she carries that understanding with her day in and day out. When she is not hosting open houses and chasing down leads, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband and children, and getting involved in the Silver Spring community, where she calls home today. Rhonda is also known amongst friends as a wine connoisseur and can often be found doling out advice on the perfect bottle to buy for any given occasion.

Rhonda Mortensen and her team were outstanding. Rhonda engaged with us for several years before we put our house in Silver Spring on the market and helped us think through every aspect of selling, from make ready to marketing. Her experience and sage advice resulted in an effective marketing strategy and helped us get the best price possible when we finally put the house on the market in summer 2023. Rhonda knows the Silver Spring area well, and she absolutely nailed the market at that time. Our house sold in 5 days for well above the listing price. Rhonda continued to work with us throughout the closing process to make for a seamless transfer. We would wholeheartedly recommend Rhonda and are grateful for her partnership during our house sale.

Rhonda was such a pleasure to work with. She went above and beyond for us at every step, providing invaluable and in-depth guidance on various neighbourhoods, and meeting our many, many requests with a smile, to help make our rather last-minute move to a new city easier. Her lively warmth and humour gave us a lovely introduction to DC/Bethesda.

We had a very short timeframe, and quite specific needs for a long-term rental in a limited market. Our 4-day house hunting trip was not long enough, but Rhonda continued the search for us, attending houses and sending photos, videos, and measurements. We ended up renting a beautiful home on her recommendation, that we'd never seen. She was able to negotiate a longer lease, connect us with the property manager, and we moved in 2 weeks ago... it's perfect.

We were having a difficult time house hunting, when our friends recommended Gordon, saying that they had a great experience with him as their real estate agent. They did not exaggerate! Gordon and Rhonda helped us dial in what we were looking for, which streamlined the entire process. Their advice and experience were invaluable. We sought their help again in putting the home we were leaving on the market. After a walkthrough, they gave us their suggestions for a punch list and we got to work. Once we were ready to list, they made everything very easy and offered recommendations for services like home staging. Working with Gordon and Rhonda was a pleasure!
