Richard was born into an English-speaking family and learned Spanish as a child. He pursued studies in Spanish in high school and college and lived in Mexico. He taught Spanish at university, junior college, high school, junior high school and elementary levels. He has pursued studies in gemology (gemstones and diamonds), studied medicine for three years, studied linguistics, traveled extensively in Mexico, Europe and Asia. For 15 years he has owned and operated America's most prestigious diamond cutting firm (EightStar Diamond). He has been active in real estate in California and Oregon for over 30 years. After receiving his real estate license, he chose Coldwell Banker to associate with in his most important career choice to date due to their sound institutional position in the business of real estate.
