About Rick

Rick is very fortunate to have been born and raised in Hawaii. As a reflection of Hawaii’s melting pot, he is of Hawaiian, Portuguese, Irish and German descent. His parents taught him at a young age that home ownership in Hawaii is something precious and being able to live in paradise should never be taken for granted. With that foundation, his education and subsequent professional positions led up to his career as a Salesperson for one of the most respected real estate agencies in Hawaii – Island Sotheby’s International Realty.

As a graduate of Kamehameha Schools Kapalama (Oahu), Rick went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He moved to California in 1987 to work in Silicon Valley where he held various positions in high tech marketing and sales support. While there he earned an MBA in Marketing. After almost 20 years in the Bay Area, Rick fulfilled is ultimate goal of moving back to Hawaii. It was then that he met his wife, Dawn. They initially bought a home in Up Country Maui, followed by a move to South Maui before ultimately settling in Wailuku in Central Maui. The result is that he’s a realtor that has been in your shoes – a Buyer and a Seller of properties at various locations throughout Maui. They love life on Maui, and their son also lives on the Valley isle along with our two grandsons. Their daughter graduated from college in Germany in 2019 and currently lives and works in New York.

For the six years prior to joining Island Sotheby’s International Realty, Rick was a Rental Manager for the largest luxury vacation rental provider in Wailea/Makena. That experience provided him with a solid understanding of the various developments in South Maui and in particular, what buyers and sellers need to know when purchasing vacation rental homes.

In all his professional experience, the ability to listen to clients and understand their needs and goals has been a key strength. This is particularly crucial for Rick as a realtor®. He looks forward to working with you and representing you when it comes to buying or selling your Maui home.
