About Rick

Rick Hughes’ personal mission is to serve the needs of his customers and clients FIRST. Rick puts a focus on his clients first. Real estate is more than just a job to him; it is a profession, and it comes with a huge responsibility. Often, the purchase or sale of real estate is the largest, most significant, and financially impactful transaction in a person's life. Rick believes there are lots of moving parts and great care is necessary to protect the interests of his customers/clients. Longevity in this business means repeatedly meeting and exceeding expectations to build lasting professional relationships.

Rick became a Licensed Realtor® in 1985 and started his career in sales with his family's brokerage in Maryland. Soon after, Rick also earned a real estate broker and appraiser license and gained certification as a professional mediator. he assumed the role of broker/owner of the company and managed all daily operations, for several years, before moving to Sarasota in 1997. Rick then managed the Michael Saunders & Company Palmer Ranch office for three years before returning to general sales. In 2003 he was asked to represent MSC and a developer in the sales and marketing of The Plaza at Five Points condominium project, in downtown Sarasota, from an empty lot to final occupancy. In 2019, Rick was recruited to KW Suncoast as a Productivity Coach, trainer, and Compliance Director (reviewing every listing and contract generated by the company) - while continuing to serve his buyer and seller clients. Rick has realigned with Preferred Shore because he recognizes their progressive, forward-thinking approach to customer service, marketing, and the real estate industry.

During his real estate career, Rick has served as a director of the Sarasota Association of Realtors, director of the Maryland Association of Realtors, of my former Board of Realtors (MD), served six terms on the Professional Standards Committee, with 3 terms as Chair, and conducted the Contract Training courses and taught the required Ethics course for local & state associations.
