Rick Scherer specializes in Tampa Bay luxury homes, waterfront properties, vacation homes, second homes, new construction, and residential lots from Bay to Bay, including St. Petersburg and Clearwater. A 17-year veteran of the Tampa market, Rick draws upon his background in economics and marketing to provide his customers with unsurpassed area knowledge and analytical skills in buying and selling real estate. By tailoring his approach to each party's needs, he places a strong emphasis on communication, working with each customer to develop a comprehensive plan for buying or selling their next home.
Originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Rick moved to Tampa in the late 1980s when his father, Tower Radiology founder Dr. James L. Scherer, relocated their family to Florida. After earning a bachelor's degree in economics from Washington & Lee University, Rick worked as a corporate trainer for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, where he outlined, implemented, and trained five-star customer service procedures and policies for the brand's hotels. Working for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, as well as his father's success with Tower, instilled in Rick a very strong dedication to quality and concierge-level service that is the cornerstone of his real estate practice.
A top producer since the start of his real estate career, Rick was twice named the rookie of the year, and sold over $15 million during his first full year in real estate. In 2008, he closed the sale of the highest-priced property sold by any Tampa REALTOR® and was inducted into The Million Dollar Guild, the highest level of The Institute of Luxury Home Marketing, the following year for his performance in Florida's luxury real estate marketplace.
Since 1989, Rick has lived in many of South Tampa's most desirable neighborhoods, including Culbreath Isles, Beach Park, Hyde Park, and Davis Islands. After real estate, Rick's passion is dogs. He is an exhibitor and breeder of American Kennel Club Grand Champion boxers that have earned national and international awards and placements. Over the course of his real estate career, Rick has served on multiple advisory boards for developers, condominium and luxury sales, and the developer's services division for multiple luxury brokerages. He has twice co-chaired the Tampa Museum of Art's largest fundraising event, Pride & Passion, and is currently a committee member for the Tampa Theatre's largest fundraiser, WineFest.
