About ROBERTA

Roberta Hylton is a REALTOR® with Highlands Real Estate | Seaglass, licensed in both Virginia and Tennessee. She brings a lifelong commitment to service, deep local knowledge, and decades of professional negotiation experience to every client relationship. Roberta combines her expertise in real estate with a genuine love of the Southern Appalachian landscape to help buyers find the right home or land—and to help sellers connect with buyers who truly appreciate what their property offers.

With many years of experience in real estate and a career grounded in public service, Roberta understands market trends, local real estate issues, and the importance of listening carefully to clients’ goals. She is known for taking the time to get to know people and what matters most to them in a property. While she is trained and experienced in all types of real estate transactions, her background makes her especially well suited to buyers and sellers of rural, conservation, and land-focused properties.

Roberta moved to Southwest Virginia in 1994, returning to her roots to pursue her passion for fish and wildlife conservation in the Southern Appalachians. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science and a Master of Science degree in Biology, and dedicated more than 35 years to local, state, and national conservation efforts. During her career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, she supervised a field office, mentored employees, and negotiated complex agreements with industry and local, state, and federal partners to conserve fish and wildlife habitat on both public and private lands—experience that now serves her real estate clients exceptionally well.

Her commitment to service extends beyond her professional work. Roberta served two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala, where she learned Spanish and met her husband. Together they raised two children. For more than 15 years, she has also volunteered as a teacher of English to speakers of other languages, helping newcomers feel welcome and at home in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.

In her free time, Roberta enjoys long day hikes, exploring rivers, cooking ethnic foods, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Whether you’re buying your first home, planning a retirement move, searching for a mountain retreat, or investing in property, Roberta offers unmatched regional knowledge, integrity, and dedication. No one works harder—or cares more deeply—about helping clients succeed in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
