About Sandy and John

John and Sandy bring years of varied work experience to Paramount. John has owned his own small business since his late twenties. During those early years he started out as a framer for a construction company. He later had a cabinet and furniture making business which also included an interior wood accessory line, such as moldings and staircase parts. His woodworking skill brought him into houses of all kinds- from starter homes to custom dream homes. In his late thirties another business opportunity came his way and he bought into a vending company. It was then that Salem, OR became home to the Van Dyk family.

Sandy started her career in nursing, working as an RN in a large teaching hospital. But family commitments eventually led her to the financial planning industry and later to a job on a university campus running events and managing an office. It was after a health crisis that she re-evaluated her career path and determined to become a licensed real estate broker.

Both John and Sandy bring to the table a passion for "home," so it feels natural for them to want to help others find that special place to call their own. They also want to assist those that desire to sell their property and start life in a new location. John’s years of business experience has taught him how to negotiate. His time spent building and remodeling homes, as well as designing and building cabinetry and furniture, has given him an eye for quality construction. He guides clients through the inspection and negotiation process. Sandy knows that details matter and it shows in her administrative role in their real estate business. She manages the abundance of forms and paperwork, as well as the deadlines and details involved in moving the transaction forward toward closing. Her love of design has given her an eye to see a home’s potential. They have renovated four homes together. They love people, are organized, detail-oriented and committed to integrity, excellence and top-notch customer service. They work hard and together they make a great team.

Moving into a new neighborhood or leaving an old one can change your life forever. John moved in across the street from Sandy when she was 12 years old and they married nine years later!
