About Shawn

Shawn Quinn’s passion for “all things real estate” led him to the industry in 1984. He first worked as a real estate sales associate with Bratty Real Estate which was a precursor to Sotheby’s International Realty - Pacific Grove Brokerage. He also has a background as real estate loan officer and as a former owner and broker of a local mortgage company. Shawn applies his experience in originating and underwriting mortgage loans to help buyers select financing options and work with their lenders. In 2008, during the depths of the market downturn, Shawn formed QRE Group, a real estate brokerage and investment firm that specialized in the purchase of foreclosures at the courthouse steps, along with the acquisition, renovation and resale of bank-owned and distressed properties. He subsequently joined Sotheby’s International Realty going full circle back to the same location that he started at in 1984. Shawn finds great satisfaction helping sellers properly prepare their homes for the market and assisting buyers in finding their dream home.

Another of his passions is envisioning and planning improvements for properties that are dated, distressed or have suffered deferred maintenance. Shawn calls upon his 28 years’ experience in real estate to provide insight and information to his clients so as “to reduce or eliminate their fear of the unknown.” His forte is walking clients through seemingly difficult scenarios by explaining the complexities of buying and selling property in basic steps. He has a specialty certification (CPRES) in properties held in trusts, estates and probate. Shawn has personal experience with both long-term and vacation rentals, renovating and selling “fixer-upper” projects and has been a participant in 1031 tax-deferred exchanges.

Shawn earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and business at Westmont College, Santa Barbara and Masters of Business Administration degree at Golden State University, San Francisco. He is a Certified Probate Real Estate Specialist and member of the Northern California Chapter of the Council of Residential Specialists. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Monterey, a former member and past president of Monterey Bay Chapter of California Association of Mortgage Brokers (CAMB now known as CAMP) former state director of CAMB, past president (former member) of the Realtor® Toastmasters Club and past president of The Pacheco Club. He lives in Pacific Grove with his son.
