Spencer Barker

Born and raised in the community, Spencer can be seen working on all types of projects around Licking County with a diverse group of clients. As an Agent/Auctioneer at Shai Commercial Real Estate, he has been able to establish himself in the Commercial Real Estate community. Spencer focus’ on local commercial real estate projects, but also has traveled around the State of Ohio on real estate projects for Englefield Inc/Duchess BP. In 2019, Spencer was named the Marketing Manager for Newark Development Partners to usher in the new Image & Branding for the City of Newark. In late 2019 Spencer was appointed to fill a vacant Newark City Council At-Large seat and was re-appointed in 2020 to a two-year Newark City Council At-Large seat. Spencer also co-owns a local marketing agency, Elite Marketing, specializing in brand development, logo design, sales and marketing collateral and social media management. Since 2009 he has owned a Video Production company based out of Granville, iSAB Video, the exclusive videographer for Patty’s Dance Center, LTD. He follows in his late-father’s (John C. “Jay” Barker) footsteps and sits on the Licking County Courthouse Lighting Committee Board of Directors and is currently President of the Board. He is also a member and Immediate Past-President of the Newark-Heath Rotary Club, attends Second Presbyterian Church in Downtown Newark and sits on the governing board of the church, and a board member of The LICCO Supporting Foundation. Spencer is also an active member of the Young Leaders of Licking County, appointed to the Board of Directors as the Vice President-Elect/Marketing and leading the development of the Young Leaders of Licking County Mobile App. In 2018 Spencer was named one of the 20 under 40 honorees by the Newark Advocate and also was named the Young Leaders of Licking County Member of the Year. Spencer graduated from Granville High School, attended The Ohio State University - Newark and then went on to The Ohio Auction School becoming a State of Ohio Licensed Auctioneer and then became a licensed Real Estate Agent. Previously he held positions at Shai Commercial Real Estate, Apple Tree Auction Center, Central Ohio Geriatrics, Apple Inc. and The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art & Technology.
