Stanley Paul Cook worked as a commercial real estate sales agent in Phoenix, Arizona, for Arnold Cook Real Estate Services (“ACRE”) in 1979. Soon after that, in 1983, as a licensed real estate broker, he became a project manager for new developments and a leasing agent for a small office building developer with other duties, including property management. In 1984, Stanley went to work for DMB Associates (developers of Santa Luz in Rancho Santa Fe) in leasing, property sales, and leadership in Phoenix. At the same time, Stanley invested in and managed numerous personal real estate partnerships in the greater Phoenix area.
In 1989, after a severe downturn in real estate nationally, Stanley went to work at Landiscor Aerial Information in sales and as manager of real estate studies and market information. Stanley began a 19-year stint as a consultant and public speaker in and for the real estate market in metropolitan Phoenix.
This period overlapped with a move to San Diego in 1998 to join a six-person group as a development partner building new self-storage facilities in Southern California. Duties in Resco Self Storage LLC included project site selection, contract negotiations, entitlement, hiring consultants, overseeing construction, and helping to manage newly-built facilities lease-up and continuing operations. In 2012, the group sold its passive interest in fourteen operating projects to joint venture partner Public Storage (NYSE: PSA).
While retaining his Arizona broker’s license, Stanley obtained his California broker’s license in the spring of 2008. Subsequently, he launched an independent brokerage for selling residential properties in San Diego County, working strictly on a referral-only basis. He also continues personal investing in both California and Arizona real estate. Relative to outside activities, Stanley plays golf competitively, road bikes, swims, runs with San Diego SoleMates, teaches indoor cycling at LA Fitness, and the YMCA loves to go to the movies and reads way too much.
