Talia was born in Mexico City, Mexico, and raised in El Paso, Texas aka ‘Sun City’ where the sun shines over 300 days of the year and the imagery of tumbleweeds and salsa are true to life. Growing up in the most western corner of Texas, between New Mexico and Mexico, Talia lived one language and culture at home and experienced another at school fostering an appreciation of people's differences. She graduated from Silva Health Magnet High School as a Certified Nurse Aide at the age of 17 and went on to earn a degree in International Relations from The Ohio State University. While in college she fenced for the Division 1 Fencing Team which earned an NCAA Championship! After graduation, she worked as a think tank analyst before joining the US Peace Corps and serving as a community health advisor in the southeast African nation of Malawi. Upon completing her assignment in the 'Warm Heart of Africa', Talia moved to Atlanta to manage the Refugee Resettlement Program of Catholic Charities Atlanta.
Through this work, she realized she could best serve people searching for their place in the world by walking them through the transition of finding a home. Her humanitarian spirit compelled her to enter the residential real estate industry. Traveling and working alongside diverse communities has helped her celebrate sameness. She strives to remain open-minded, not define others by their roles/titles and appreciates reciprocation of a similar openness. With a love for all living things, Talia is infinitely curious about interconnectedness as demonstrated in a favorite quote by Albert Einstein, “Look deep into nature and you will understand everything better”.
She is a certified yoga instructor and scuba diver and her dream job would follow the example of Nobel Peace Prize winner, environmentalist, and political activist, Wangari Maathai, and travel the globe planting trees. Talia would invite Jesus as her dream dinner guest to enlighten her on his experiences as a carpenter, teacher, and healer in his time on Earth. They may find that they have a lot in common.
