About Tom
I grew up on a dairy farm found right between Quarryville and the Buck, and graduated from Solanco High School in 2006. I currently live in Lancaster city with my wife, Larissa and our two children, Emma and Rowan.
Growing up on a farm was a great upbringing, however I was far from the average farm kid. While I spent countless early mornings and late nights milking cows in addition to feeding and doing fieldwork, I was an adrenaline junkie. I was often found rappelling off silos, snowboarding off the barn roof, and building 30 foot bonfires in the meadow. I dreamed of what life had for me beyond life on the farm and moved to Los Angeles at 19 years old to pursue a career as a stuntman. While this career ambition was short lived, I did manage to work as an extra on several movies and TV shows including How I Met Your Mother, Glee, iCarly, and Iron Man 2.
After my time in Los Angeles I moved back to the farm, however I had another passion that I wanted to explore. A passion for youth ministry. I was soon able to find an opportunity to be a Young Life leader at Solanco High School. It was a fantastic opportunity that allowed me to build relationships, and share the gospel in a way that kids could also understand, as well as show them life as a Christian is far from boring.
After a few years of leading Young Life I met the love of my life, Larissa, and we were married soon after. A year into our marriage we decided we wanted to pursue opportunities outside the farm and ultimately move out west. Real Estate had always been an opportunity Larissa and I wanted to explore, however we weren't feeling "grounded" enough to consider it to be the right move. Even though we weren't in real estate we constantly watched the market, shared houses back and forth, and even sent links to friends who we knew were looking to buy. After working 5 years in retail banking and almost 3 years at an investment firm, I realized that my wife and I are well grounded in our life here in Lancaster, and my reasons for not fulfilling my desire to be a realtor are no longer reasons. I found climbing the corporate ladder has not been the right fit for me and I decided it's time to go all in on a career change with limitless opportunity that I can build while prioritizing my family and creating a lifestyle that maximizes the gifts God has given me.
As a realtor, I plan to utilize the knowledge I acquired from working with multiple certified financial planners in the investment firm to help people find the right house. Finding the right house isn't just as simple as finding the right number of bedrooms and bathrooms in the right school district, but finding the right house that fits your long term financial plan.
