About Tom

Before the sun has risen over the East Bay hilltops, Tom Donovan is up enjoying a hot cup of coffee. By 7:00 am, he is out the door to the gym, where a vigorous workout kick-starts his day. His pace does not slow down until his head hits the pillow at night. Whether he is spending time with friends and family, devoting himself to local community efforts or collaborating with his clients, Tom’s life is a continual quest to improve himself, the community around him and those he meets. And his passion is evident from the moment you meet him.

Tom grew up on a small farm in Iowa as one of eight children. He and his siblings were responsible for working on the farm at an early age, and those experiences instilled in Tom the strong values that have endured throughout his life – a strong work ethic, holding himself to lofty standards and most critically, the importance of doing what you say you are going to do. Like his father and grandfather before him, Tom earned his B.S degree in Human Biology and attained his professional degree D.C. to become a chiropractor, but not before accepting some sage advice from his grandfather. So off Tom went to California, where he built a thriving practice first in Moraga and later in Lafayette. He has been a Bay Area resident since 1978 and grown more enthusiastic about the area every year.

Tom cherished his ability to positively impact people’s lives as a health care provider, but true to his nature, he wanted even more out of life and his career. Always interested in real estate and the ability to bridge people’s lives from where they live to where they could thrive, Tom achieved his real estate license over 19 years ago. He soon discovered how rewarding it was to help people on a personal level with such a critical time in their lives. In 2007, he started selling residential real estate and continues to devote his time and effort to helping people make the most of their real estate opportunities.

One of Tom’s keys to success as a real estate professional is his understanding that no two people are alike. That is why he tries to connect with his clients to determine their goals, their motivations, their likes, and dislikes. Tom views each transaction he conducts as more than a move for his clients; it is a new opportunity to successfully move on to the next stage of their lives and to live the lifestyle they desire. It is that belief that provides all the inspiration he needs to devote all his energy and effort to helping his clients achieve their real estate goals.
