I spent a good part of my life running like a bull, only to eventually discover I was standing in a china shop. I broke a few things, fell down more than a few times, and somewhere along the way, by the grace of God, I learned that getting back up can teach a man considerably more than never falling in the first place.
So if you're looking for the normal Realtor bio, this probably isn't one.
After more than 30 years in real estate, I've been a Realtor, broker, leader, trainer, auctioneer, problem solver, negotiator and entrepreneur. I've sold a lot of property and helped guide a lot of transactions. But those aren't the things that made me who I am.
Life did that. Being a husband and father did that. Making mistakes did that. Winning some battles and losing others did that. And most importantly, God did that.
He has a remarkable way of taking the things we thought might break us and using them to teach us how to help somebody else through theirs.
I used to think experience meant having the answers. Today I think experience means knowing enough to listen before giving one.
Because behind every piece of real estate is something more valuable than the dirt, bricks and lumber. There's a person. A family. A dream. A problem. A new beginning. Sometimes someone coming home, and sometimes someone who simply doesn't know what to do next.
Maybe I can sell the property. Maybe I can auction it. Maybe I can negotiate the problem. Maybe I know the right person who can help. Maybe all you need is thirty minutes, a cup of coffee and someone who's been around long enough to say, “I've seen something like this before.”
