The cultural heart of Reno
In more ways than one, MidTown is the heart of Reno, Nevada. Not only is MidTown located at the core of “the Biggest Little City in the World,” but it is home to the Nevada Museum of Art, dozens of popular restaurants and bars and a picturesque riverwalk straddling the Truckee River. People who wish to live just down Virginia Street from downtown’s casinos can find homes varying greatly in style, size and price, from condos to Modern Rustic masterpieces. Jaime Chapman, Executive Director of MidTown Reno, says, "What makes MidTown stand out is that we are the art and culture hub of Reno. We have murals scattered everywhere, and we're all local entrepreneurs."
Cuisine and culture
MidTown is home to more than 150 businesses, including over 20 restaurants and bars, 40 boutique shops varying from music to clothing outlets, 30 wellness and beauty supply stores, and over 50 murals along each block. Chapman says, "We do arts and culture, but we also like to focus on small businesses and entrepreneurs. You can live, work and play all right here." Locals can navigate this bustling commercial district along its accessible and walkable sidewalks, each of which are flanked by restaurants and shops bringing out flavorful culinary aromas and local culture at the same time. Unique local businesses include Anna’s Taqueria, which hosts all-you-can-eat Taco Tuesdays, as well as Great Full Gardens, an all-day café crafting healthy meals from its own greenhouse. "We even have a shop with K-pop beauty supplies you can only get in Midtown, and we also have one of the only solar showrooms in the entire United States," Chapman says. People who live in MidTown have access to various grocery stores, including Sprouts and the Great Basin Community Food Co-Op, where they may purchase organic food obtained locally.

Vintage homes and variety
MidTown’s housing stock varies as much as its art scene does. From brick bungalows and high-rise condos to Mediterranean-style residences and smaller Midcentury Moderns, there are living options across the spectrum of aesthetics. Most homes in MidTown were built between 1970 and 1999, while some single-family homes built before 1940 add even more variety to MidTown’s inventory and pricing. Condos can sell for between $210,000 and $840,000, while townhouses range from $528,000 to $730,000 and single-family houses vary in price from $235,000 to $3.2 million. With abundant mature landscaping and flowering trees, afternoon walks take on a whole new meaning in this riverfront neighborhood.

Riverfront relaxation
The Riverwalk District, a popular recreation area along the Truckee River, is a short walk from the heart of MidTown. This stretch of tree-shaded riverfront promenade is popular for photography, festivals, strolling and even fly fishing. Casting a line into the river may yield a bite from either a brown trout or a rainbow trout. At Plumas Park, one of six local parks in the community, locals can find that pickup game of hoops or a place to kick around the soccer ball. During winter, the park is a popular venue for sledding, while locals can let their dogs roam freely on this park's fields year-round. Snow adds to the area's natural scenery from November to March, although snow can occasionally fall as late as June.

A-rated education at Reno High
As much of MidTown is located west of Virginia Street, most students attend the highly rated schools of the Reno High School Attendance Zone, including Jesse Beck Elementary School, Darrell C. Swope Middle School and Reno High School, all of which receive A ratings from Niche. Not only does Reno High School have A-rated academics, teachers and college prep programs, but it offers a number of Signature Academy Programs like computer science, graphic design, engineering and sports medicine to provide students with opportunities for hands-on career exploration. Because of these ample opportunities for student growth, the school has been ranked among the top 15 public high schools and STEM-focused high schools in the state.
Roaming around Reno
MidTown residents are not only located at the heart of Reno, but they also have maximum transportation conveniences. Commuters seeking to travel across the river into downtown Reno can catch a 12-minute bus from the Lawlor Station route and travel past the famous Reno Arch, while drivers can make the same journey within a 5-minute cruise up Virginia Street. The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is also accessible within a 4-mile and 12-minute drive.
