Warm & walkable residential community south of Riverside
From its former life devoted to citrus harvesting, to its mild climate to the welcoming nature of its current-day residents, Orangecrest exudes warmth. This master-planned community, less than 10 miles southeast of downtown Riverside, provides a suburban lifestyle for all residents, whether they’re military members affiliated with nearby March Air Reserve Base or families looking for a quiet place to grow. “Orangecrest attracts younger families with its active community and large parks,” says Laura Folsom, Riverside native and Realtor serving the area for the past decade. “And it has a good reputation in Riverside with strong elementary, middle and high schools.” This neighborhood was designed with convenience in mind: many homes are within walking distance of schools, parks and shopping.

Orangecrest is not far from classic Riverside entertainment. About 10 miles east lies Lake Perris State Recreation Area and Perris Beach, which are positioned next to several fun venues like the Southern California Fair and the Perris Auto Speedway. Or, residents can venture downtown for events like the annual Riverside Tamale Festival. A bit closer to home, The Orangecrest Club hosts private events like weddings and dances. Finally, practitioners of various faiths can find communities across southeast Riverside, from churches in Orangecrest to temples just outside the bounds of the neighborhood. “The Grove is a large church in the area; quite a few people in the area go there,” Folsom says.

Important to know
Residents benefit from a low CAP Index crime score – a two out of ten – across all categories. Additionally, Orangecrest is surrounded by an industrial sector and Interstate 215 to the east. While the expanding industrial sector brings more jobs to the area, residents have to deal with street closures due to construction. “Target built a huge warehouse, but families don’t want more concrete tilt-ups,” Folsom says. “The traffic affects the residential streets.” Finally, Orangecrest carries a higher risk of wildfires than some of the more urbanized parts of Riverside.
A big shopping center with a wide range of restaurants and retailers awaits you in Orangecrest.

overall, our public services are very good. Our school system could use some improvement from the top down, with many of our problems having to do with our superintendent and school district board rather than the schools themselves, and of course being in a drought our water supply needs help
