Columbia College-Kings Bay, Valdosta State University- Camden Center, and Coastal Pines Technical College rest just outside of the city. Jacksonville University is 42 miles south of Saint Marys, which is about a 40-minute drive.

Although Saint Marys technically isn't a part of metro Jacksonville, some residents travel into the city for work. Interstate 95 is the most popular highway, allowing for travel across Georgia and south towards Jacksonville.
