Retro suburb on the Main Street of America
Cut through by the famous U.S. Route 66, Terrace is the easternmost neighborhood of the Rialto suburb of San Bernadino. Along the highway, buyers find a litany of eye-catching diners, burger joints, hotels and other businesses that imbue the area with a 1950s retro California vibe. Aside from its arterial landmark, Terrace offers a choice of yard space or private community amenities. But available to all residents is the convenience of having the Main Street of America right at their fingertips, plus public transportation to boot.
Busy Route 66 is now named 5th Street in Terrace.
You will find many remnants from the 50s while driving through Terrace.

Midcentury exteriors with Spanish flare
On both sides of 66, slender sidewalks run along average-sized streets, shaded by long rows of mighty palms and wispy Palo Santo trees rising from desert grass verges. North of 66 offers single-story detached homes, often in a midcentury style with a touch of Spanish influence. Stone brick walls adorned with ornamental rod iron fences guard their small yards, which get larger the further north one looks. Some contain in-ground pools, as well as driveways leading to corrugated metal carports or attached one- or two-car garages. Multi-story new builds are also found there featuring a greater emphasis on the classic Spanish-style. Overall, these prices often run between $400,000 and $600,000. South of Route 66 are mostly communities for manufactured homes. These are usually gated and have community amenities such as playgrounds and pools. With a lower buy-in than detached single-family homes, these usually sell for somewhere between $50,000 and $250,000.

Retro drive-thru's across from vintage donut shops
Most week-to-week shopping can be done along 66. A Stater Bros. Markets location in Acacia Plaza is there for grocery runs. Half a block east, the locally owned A&J Market & Produce sells international items. Restaurants can be found along the highway, too. Locals swing by Howards Donuts & Deli while commuting to buy a dozen for the office. Across the street, Rush Burger Grill offers a vintage-style drive-through, serving hefty burgers with a side of seasoned crinkle-cut fries. If looking for nightlife, locals head to Lulu's Hideout for drink and food specials like free bowls of pozole on Sundays with a two-beer minimum.
