Dogpatch is a San Francisco, California, neighborhood on the southeastern bayfront. Its former shipbuilding and manufacturing sites have been steadily redeveloped since the 1990s. Historic warehouses and factories now house galleries, workshops and museums. Some popular spots are the Minnesota Street Project, a complex of galleries and artist studios, and the Museum of Craft and Design, which is focused on contemporary art. Monthly First Fridays Art Walks and free museum days connect residents to these spaces. Locally owned restaurants and shops line a walkable stretch of 22nd and 3rd streets, with standouts including Piccino for contemporary Italian, Just For You Cafe for brunch and the Dogpatch Saloon, a neighborhood bar. Most housing consists of modern condo buildings and apartment rentals, with single-family homes rarely coming to market. Many condo complexes include amenities such as rooftop terraces, fitness centers and co-working spaces. Crane Cove Park, built on a former shipyard site along San Francisco Bay, has a sandy beach used by kayakers and paddleboarders, preserved gantry cranes and open lawns. Esprit Park and Progress Park both have dog parks, and Progress Park also has a bocce court and fitness equipment. The Muni Metro T Third light rail line runs through Dogpatch, as do Caltrain trains. Interstate 280 is nearby for drivers. Mission Bay, with its healthcare campuses and corporate offices, is under a mile away.
