Located in the eastern end of Tucson’s Flowing Wells neighborhood, Academy Del Sol Roger is a tuition-free public charter school serving more than 150 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Here, the faculty teach students through a curriculum that integrates academic, social and behavioral education. So beyond daily instruction in reading, writing, math and science, students learn how to develop skills for practical areas in life as well; for instance, they can acquire good manners, become more attuned to self-care, learn shopping and budgeting skills and acquire time management techniques. Academy Del Sol plans a school day that is 45 minutes longer than most traditional schools. With the extra time, the academy integrates fine arts into the daily calendar and helps students become more well-rounded individuals by nurturing creative development and problem-solving. As for extracurriculars, more active students can participate in team sports via the Canyon Athletics Association and compete as Academy Del Sol Road Runners in interscholastic volleyball, basketball and soccer, among other programs. In addition, the academy offers a before- and after-school program to accommodate more flexible schedules for picking up and dropping off students. In an intimate learning setting, Academy Del Sol offers students a well-rounded approach to prepare them for everyday life.

Small school with small student feeling and learning is spotty at best. dysfunctional organization to say the least and communication with parents is mediocre. Principal is out of her depth and the instability of the staff and the cliques thereof are consistent with the results of their test scores....

Principal is incompetent. Teachers are treacherous and unwelcoming to new teachers. Students are amazingly disinterested in learning and I do not know who was teaching them in elementary schools because many of them cannot do basic multiplication or division.
