Kenmore-Garfield high school opened in 2017 after a merger between Garfield High School, in Akron’s Firestone Park neighborhood, and Kenmore High School, in Akron’s Kenmore neighborhood. A brand-new, 275,000-square-foot campus, completed in 2022, houses students at the site of the former Garfield High School in Firestone Park. One of six high schools in the Akron Public School district, it has a student body of around 800 students who live in southwest Akron or qualify for open enrollment. Kenmore-Garfield scored low in many of the Ohio State Report Card components, according to the latest available data, but its graduation rate (77.5 percent) has steadily climbed year over year since 2014. Students can take advantage of a wide range of academic, athletic and enrichment programs, including college and career prep pathways. Working with local colleges and businesses, Kenmore-Garfield offers special programs to ready students for careers in manufacturing, engineering, information technology, construction, culinary arts, nursing and more. Students are also able to earn college credit through the district’s College & Career Academies program. The school offers a robust athletics program with baseball, bowling, basketball, cross country, football, softball, soccer, tennis, track, volleyball and wrestling. Students compete as part of the Akron City Series. It also offers extracurricular programs such as band, choir and orchestra, as well as advanced programs in visual art, photography and theater. https://reportcard.education.ohio.gov/school/013128 https://kenmoregarfield.akronschools.com/about_us

During my time in Garfield I was involved with sports and clubs, the school culture is ok, the teachers and staff were great but unfortunately some students make our school look bad. Overall the school was good to me and my family.

It's definitely an exceptional school to go to. The schools are so close to my house so it's way more efficient for me so I won't be late.

I had an over all good experience with this school. Never god bullied, left behind, or lost. I didn't fit in with most of my class mates, but then again, I don't tend to fit in with people around my age. I got along well with a lot of the teachers and staff, becoming Facebook friends with a few. If I had to change anything though, it would be the school itself. It is in despite need for a remodel or at the very least, and update.

This will be my second year of going to this high school and I think people over exaggerate about it being a bad school. It lets u be something. Let's u be part of the family. Garfield has soo much potential and good students. They offer so many things.Don't let a few kids get to u. Oh and u should...

As a student who currently attends Garfield, I can say that the school is in desperate need of help. There are some genuinely bright students and engaging teachers there that are being drowned out by all the chaos, which is why the school would be much better off if it were smaller. My third period...

I feel that Garfield High School could be MUCH better. I find that students in the 12th grade cannot even pronounce simple words. Word they should've learned in elementary or middle school. The principal (Dieringer) never demonstrates leadership. I once asked him a question about the school and he g...
