Arno Elementary, home of the Cougars, is one of three elementary schools in the Allen Park Public Schools district. It has a current enrollment of about 475 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The school is located on the eastern side of Allen Park’s residential area, allowing for quick transportation to and from school. The building offers a spacious gym, cafeteria, media room, library and a large playground with basketball courts and outdoor seating areas to allow for plenty of learning and play out in the fresh air.
One of the top-rated schools in the district, Arno Elementary enjoys a student-to-teacher ratio of 18-to-1 with 27 full-time teachers on staff. The school outperforms state averages for proficiency in math and reading and boasts above-average test scores in math, English and social studies.
Students benefit from a curriculum that includes physical education, art, media tech and music in addition to core subject areas, and fifth graders also have the option to participate in the school band program. Technology is a regular part of student life as well, with each student being issued a Chromebook to aid in their learning in the classroom and at home.
