GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I have gone here for all 4 years of high school and while I have good memories and have had good experiences, this school in general is not a very good place to be. Many teachers don't teach well and have been fired or quit because of student interactions, the food is horrible and there are barely any extra options for drinks or snacks, classes are bad, and there could be so many improvements with how faculty treats students.

In less than 2 months, I will be walking a huge stage in front of my family and peers and graduating Alvarado High School. If you would have asked me 4 years ago as a freshman what I liked about AHS, I wouldn't be able to say much because I was unappreciative of what I have. I now find myself being grateful for being surrounded by so many teachers, friends, and staff that all care for each other and take every opportunity to help others succeed in their goals. AHS is more than just a school full of people, we're a close family. It has become such a defining part of who I am today, and now- faced with the reality that I will never be able to experience anything like high school again- I can proudly say that I come from such a wonderful and involved community.

Bullying is not ever taken care of. My son had a knife pulled on him. Another student had the incident on his phone and showed the principal. That child was suspended for recording the incident, my child was suspended for defending himself against a bully and the person who pulled the knife was not...

Very poor. We had issues with disabled students and lack of support from campus and admin. They were gossiping about parents and it is cliquish and family and best friends work together. It is nearly impossible to get support that is unbiased.

I would rate it a solid 5 out of 10. I went to school here from pre-k to 12th grade and I absolutely loved it! I was always involved and never had a problem. However, for those who are coming here with kids whom have special needs, I would refrain from coming to this District. They do not care or he...
