Ann Arbor's Southeast neighborhood is home to the Ann Arbor Adventist Elementary School. The elementary is included in the worldwide network of Seventh-day Adventist schools. It is the only Adventist school in the immediate area. Adventist schools promote their small class sizes and individual attention from teachers. The school website says students, "...are encouraged to learn and grow to their fullest emotional, spiritual, academic, social, and physical potential." Of course with a religious foundation, the school focuses on a "Christ-centered" and "Bible-based" curriculum. The school leadership says all students are accepted with no stipulations on what they can achieve, or what they look like.
Ann Arbor Adventist Elementary provides learning based on a minimum of nine class designations. That includes mathematics, social studies, language arts, science, reading, handwriting, religious education, foreign language, and technology.
The school also provides a foundation in additional subject areas like physical and outdoor education and art. 5th and 6th graders are also offered classes about music
Adventist educators say their learning program meets their church standards along with Common Core national standards.
