Bach Elementary School is located within the Old West Side neighborhood of Ann Arbor and serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Bach Elementary participates in a foundational STEM education program called Project Lead the Way which is a method of teaching. Students are taught how to be more engaged with the foundations of biomechanical science, technology, engineering and computer science. Additional programs at the school are designed to help students with leadership and personal growth. Among them is the school's Service Squad. A group of fourth graders is chosen each semester to participate. They assist teachers and staff in the areas of teacher assistance, library help and being kindergarten helpers. Older students from Ann Arbor's Pioneer High spend individual time with some Bach Elementary fourth and fifth graders on their general assignments and homework through the Trailblazers mentor program. This program has been recognized for outstanding success by the Michigan Education Association. Bach teachers specializing in language arts can help students in 13 different languages ranging from Chinese to Spanish. Bach Elementary is recognized as a Green School by the Michigan state legislature for recycling and composting. Students and staff also plant trees as they continue to develop a wildlife habitat area. Parents and children can attend after-school events such as movie nights, ice cream socials and musicals to name a few. The annual overnight trip for fifth graders to a nearby YMCA outdoor camp is something most get very excited about.

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Bach is the best elementary school in the city, not only evidenced by high scores you seen on rating sites, but because the teachers and leadership are so engaged with families. The negative ratings here do not in any way match anything I have seen. The negative ones seem to mention a former princip...

We love Bach! My daughter is in 3rd grade and has been blessed with amazing teachers here. The community is also very supportive.

Worst ever if you want to be in a compassionate, caring, kind school where kids are taught to treat others kindly. Literally worst school in the city.

We do not live in the Bach neighborhood and visited a lot of schools before making the choice to attend Bach. Our children have both flourished at Bach and can't imagine going anywhere else.
