Just south of Athens University rests the sprawling campus of Limestone County Career Technical Center, which has been a part of the Alabama Automotive Maintenance and Repair industry since opening its doors in 1971. In addition to automotive industry training, this facility offers a curriculum in agriculture, culinary, construction, graphic design, information technology, cosmetology, health science, teaching, HVAC and welding for grades 10-12. Limestone County Career Technical Center has partnered with the public schools in Limestone County and Athens City School Systems and services more than 900 students each year at no cost to the student. Students attend vocational classes for two and a half hours each day, either in the morning or afternoon, with free transportation provided to and from their local public school. The LCCTC believes in providing financial freedom through education and assisting in the transition from school to work for the young people of Limestone County. Career coaches, SAT preparation, JROTC, job placement services and college coursework are among the resources available to students who attend LCCTC. The school also provides meal assistance to qualifying children and a positive environment with hands-on training as notable benefits. The school holds a 4.75/5.0 ranking from current and previous student reviews, with 100 percent of reviewers recommending this school to a friend.
