Avon is so lucky to have a 5-6 school. TBS does a great job preparing students for middle school. It is a great bridge between elementary and middle. 5th grade is similar to elementary while the 6th grade offers closer to a middle school vibe. The teachers and admins really care about their students...

I've been quite shocked at the level of homophobia and general bullying in the school - it's not a very welcoming or safe environment for children. We have been underwhelmed by Thompson Brook and, at least so far, Avon schools in general. When moving to the Hartford area, we read that Avon had among the best schools - and while this may be true in this area, those coming from out-of-state may be disappointed. The buildings are old and not kept...
