St. Joseph Parish School is a Catholic grade school providing faith-based educational opportunities to children in prekindergarten through eighth grade. This school has been part of the Avon Lake community for over 70 years. St. Joseph strives to shape its students to exemplify the teachings of Jesus Christ, including valuing compassion and loving service.
The school seeks to create well-rounded students centered in Christ while ready to meet any academic challenge. This is evidenced by St. Joseph students soaring above national test score averages in reading and math and, ultimately, gaining admission to their top high school choices. Up-and-coming kindergartners must pass a readiness screening prior to admission. Courses are taught daily in Spanish, math, religion, science, physical education, history, literature, library studies and music. Every teacher is certified with the majority holding master’s degrees or higher to ensure students receive the best education possible.
St. Joseph offers the Catholic sacraments to students, including First Holy Communion and Reconciliation, along with weekly mass.
Students also have a wide variety of clubs to choose from, such as drama club, cooking club, ski club and Girls on the Run, just to name a few. In addition, St. Joseph offers sports teams that compete in the Catholic Youth Organization against other local schools. Sports include cheerleading, basketball, volleyball, football, track and cross country.

SJS is such a great school. The kids, teachers, and ever about it is amazing! It's my last year here at Saint Joes and I am definitely going to miss it! We have a lot of activities and sports to do here at Saint Joseph School!
